Tip 1) LOSE WEIGHT   

Excess weight puts extra pressure on body joints. losing as little as 5 pounds can make a huge difference in pain levels. In some cases it may go away entirely.

 

Tip 2) CONTROL YOUR USE OF PAIN KILLERS

 

Pain medications, whether prescription or over the counter, impact many parts of the body, and with continued heavy use can create serious side effects. Ulcers, and liver damage are not uncommon. Whatever your pain medication is, it is possible you do not need the maximum dosage. Experiment with reducing your dosage to find what is best for you, even a small reduction can have positive benefits. Be sure to check with your Doctor, to be sure this is advisable in your situation.

Tip 3) YOU HAVE TO MOVE!

Damaged or Arthritic joints that are not used only seem to get worse. Maintaining range of motion is very important to controlling pain and continued deterioration. An active lifestyle that includes exercise and possibly even a free weight routine can help. Your Doctor may have some recommendations.
