Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal syndrome wherein the person experiences excessive pain in the muscles and the bones. Not much is known about this condition which makes it more difficult to identify. There is no known cause nor cure for this condition. However, doctors are inclined to say that fibromyalgia can occur because of a trauma that was experienced. The trauma can be physical or psychological. Stress can also be a cause of fibromyalgia.
The nature of fibromyalgia is silent – it does not show immediately nor does it suddenly accelerate to a terrible condition. It occurs slowly and it can only be identified when certain symptoms arise.

Fatigue is one of the more common symptoms of this condition. When you have fibromyalgia, you would often feel tired to the point that it resembles the flu. What’s unusual about this is that you get fatigued even with doing minimal activities like reading a book, sitting down, and watching television. Unlike most people who get exhausted after a whole day, those with fibromyalgia don’t even reach half of the day to feel very tired.
The feeling of tiredness differs between each person, but most of the people who were diagnosed with this condition describe their fatigue as something like having a fever or something similar to exhaustion after going for a workout.
Needless to say that since fibromyalgia is a syndrome involving the musculoskeletal system, aching joints, bones, muscles, and tendons are a part of its symptoms.

Although there is no cure for this syndrome yet, there are treatments that can help with fibromyalgia pain relief.
Painkillers are temporary medication for pain. Temporary because the relief only lasts for a few hours. This in itself is not advisable for the long term because the more you drink painkillers, the more your body gets immune to them. Once it does, you would require a higher dosage of painkillers. When it happens to be in that stage, your doctor would prescribe painkillers.
Because one of the symptoms of fibromyalgia is having a hard time sleeping, your doctor may give you sleeping pills so that you can still get enough sleep despite your condition.
It is still important to get enough sleep because your body regenerates when you are sleeping. The time that you are in bed allows your body to recover from the day and it also eases your brain so that you don’t feel much pain.
Physical therapy can help you manage your muscle and bone pains. A physical therapist will guide you in the exercise and may recommend exercises you can do at home so that your muscles and bones will be nourished even just for a bit.
Fibromyalgia is a tough illness to deal with. Aside from it being incurable, it is also very painful and will take a toll on both your mind and body. Having this illness can dampen your spirits and can cause you to be depressed.
Psychotherapy can be a way to prevent or manage your feelings towards it. In this treatment, you will be able to talk about your feelings and thoughts about what you are going through in a safe space.
